The short version. We collect only what we need to run the game: your email address to sign you in, the player name, club and country you choose, and your game progress. We don't sell your data, we don't show personalised adverts, and we don't use tracking cookies. You can delete your account yourself at any time.
Know Your Footy ("the game", "we", "us") is run by Y. Lewis, trading as YR Lewis Group. We are the "controller" of your personal information, which means we decide how it is used and are responsible for protecting it.
Contact us about anything in this policy at hello@knowyourfooty.com, or by post at YR Lewis Group, Lytchett House, 13 Freeland Park, Wareham Road, Poole, Dorset, BH16 6FA, United Kingdom.
| Information | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Your email address | To create your account and sign you in (we email you a sign-in code and link, or you can sign in with Google). We also use it to reply if you contact us, and to send important messages about your account or purchases. |
| Your player name, club and country | You choose these. They appear on leaderboards, division tables, private leagues and club rankings, so other players can see them. Please don't use your full real name as your player name if you'd rather stay anonymous. |
| Your game activity | Your answers, scores, points, streaks, coins, tickets, cards, trophies, challenge progress, division results and private leagues. We need this to run the game, keep score fairly and stop cheating. |
| Which link brought you here | If you joined from one of our links (for example on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, an advert or a friend's invite), we note which one when you sign up. This tells us which of our posts and adverts work. It is saved with your account, not in a cookie, and we don't use tracking pixels. So that this still works if you leave to fetch your sign-in code, the short name of the link (for example "ig") is kept in your browser's local storage for up to 7 days, and deleted as soon as your account is set up. |
| Anonymous visit counts | We count how many visits reach each step (for example: opened the game, played today's legend, made an account), grouped by day and by which of our links was used. These are totals only. They contain no names, emails, device IDs or anything that could identify you, and no cookies are used. |
| Question reports | If you report a question, we keep what you wrote so we can check and fix it. |
| Purchase details | If you buy something, our payment partner Stripe tells us what you bought, when, the order number and your email address so we can add it to your account. We never see or store your card details. |
| Technical information | Like any website, our hosting and database providers automatically log basic technical details such as your IP address, browser type and the time of your visit. These are used to keep the service secure and working. |
We don't collect special category information (such as health or religion), and we don't ask for your date of birth, address or phone number.
Data protection law (the UK GDPR and, for players in Europe, the EU GDPR) says we must have a lawful reason for each use:
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. To keep you signed in, the game saves a sign-in token and a few game settings in your browser's local storage. If you play today's Daily Legend before making an account, your guesses for that day are kept there too, so you can save your result when you sign up. This is strictly necessary for the game to work, so it doesn't need your consent. Our fonts are served from our own website, so loading the game doesn't send your details to font providers.
There are no adverts in the game. If we introduce real adverts or analytics in future, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
We don't sell your personal information or share it with advertisers. We share it only with the companies that help us run the game, and only as much as they need:
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect players or the game from fraud or harm.
Other players can see your player name, club, country and scores on leaderboards and in any private leagues you join. They can't see your email address.
Some of our providers store or process data outside the UK and the European Economic Area, for example in the United States. When that happens, the transfer is protected by the safeguards the law requires, such as an adequacy decision (including the UK–US data bridge) or approved standard contract clauses.
You have the right to:
To use any of these rights, email hello@knowyourfooty.com from the address linked to your account. We'll reply within one month. It's free.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or, if you live in the EU, to your local data protection authority.
Know Your Footy is for people aged 16 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you think a child under 16 has created an account, tell us and we'll delete it.
Your information is stored with reputable providers, sent over encrypted connections, and protected by access controls so that each player can only reach their own account. No system is perfect, but if something went wrong that put your information at risk, we would tell you and the regulator where the law requires it.
The game automatically works out things like scores, streaks and division promotions. These are part of the game and have no legal or similarly significant effect on you. We don't use your data to profile you for any other purpose.
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is important, for example adding adverts or analytics, we'll tell you in the game or by email before it takes effect.
